Al Pacino Is A Con Man In This Star-Studded Streaming Drama That Will Have You Glued To The Screen

Al Pacino added an excellent work to his filmography when he starred in the 1992 film Glengarry Glen Ross. David Mamet wrote the movie as an adaptation of his 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by the same name.  Directed by James Foley, Glengarry Glen Ross is now considered to be a cult classic and comes equipped with a star-studded cast.

Coffee is for closers, but everyone can stream Glengarry Glen Ross on Hulu.

Al Pacino (Scarface), Jack Lemmon (Grumpy Old Men), Alec Baldwin (97 Minutes), Alan Arkin (Stand Up Guys), Kevin Spacey (American Beauty), and Ed Harris (Radio) form a cast like no other. The team of talent brings Mamet’s play to the big screen with all the precarious precision needed to sell the story and an excess of cursing. The cast jokingly referred to the flick as “Death of a F*kin’ Salesman.”

Though Glengarry Glen Ross was given great reviews at its opening and is now considered to be one of the best movies released in the 90s, it was considered a flop at the box office. The movie grossed only $10.7 million in North American theaters, while the production of the film cost around $12.5 million.

Jack Lemmon won a Volpi Cup for Best Actor in the film, and the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes even gave the film a 95 percent positive rating, which is no simple feat. The box office flop must have been a fluke. Maybe moviegoers just weren’t feeling the theater experience that year.

The story of Glengarry Glen Ross centers around only two days in the lives of four real estate salesmen. Blake (Alec Baldwin) is sent by the higher-ups to motivate the slacking sales team to do better by threatening their jobs should they not prevail. Only the top two salesmen that month will be able to keep their jobs, while the rest of them will be fired.

Glengarry Glen Ross has one of the greatest casts ever assembled for a movie, from Al Pacino and Alan Arkin, to Jack Lemmon and Ed Harris.

In addition, the winners of the challenge will receive quality leads and sales prospects for the Glengarry Highlands development. Instead of being on board to win the sales race, there is rebellion in the air as two salesmen consider robbing the firm and stealing the leads to sell to competitors.

Shelley Levene (Jack Lemmon) does his best to scheme and deal his way into getting Williamson (Kevin Spacey) to leak some of the leads to him, to no avail. He at least tries to go about winning the contest somewhat straightforwardly.

However, Moss (Ed Harris) and Aaronow (Alan Arkin) aim to give the firm’s management a dose of their own medicine and respond to their threats with a well-plotted robbery. Aaronow doesn’t want to go through with the plan, but Moss convinces him to tell him he is already an accessory by knowing before the fact.

While all of this is going on, Roma (Al Pacino), the firm’s top salesman, tries to finagle his way into a sale of his own. He works to manipulate a docile older man into purchasing a property by reframing the deal as an opportunity for the future, but Roma soon finds that the joke is on him, as the man and his wife don’t even have the money needed to invest.

Through all of the wiley twists and turns of Glengarry Glen Ross, viewers gain a raw look into what being a salesman in a capitalistic world really looks like when it’s all out in the open. It’s a dirty game, but someone’s got to play it.

Glengarry Glen Ross is considered a classic, but at the time, it was a flop, earning only $10 million at the box office.

In addition to Jack Lemmon’s Best Actor award, the movie won Best Crew Ensemble from the Awards Circuit Community Awards and Best Supporting Actor (Jack Lemmon and Alec Baldwin) at the 20/20 Awards. If you pay no attention to the movie’s performance at the box office, you’ll quickly see that this movie has substance.

Find out who lands on top in the end by watching Glengarry Glen Ross streaming on Hulu with a subscription to the channel. The movie is 1 hour and 40 minutes long with an “R” rating attached to it, so you might have to wait until the kids are off to bed to press play.
